In the U.S. we have a lot of religion, but it isn't really based on any one religion. We use Christianity as our base and then we throw in a few other things like your Native American religions, Judaism and even Buddhism to make it seem like we're not all one religion. Religion (and the laws that go along with it) are more of a social construct rather than an actual thing that people follow for their entire lives.
